Microsoft has released a set of fixes for Remote Desktop Services that include two critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerabilities, CVE-2019-1181 and CVE-2019-1182. These two vulnerabilities are ‘wormable’, meaning that any future malware that exploits these could propagate from vulnerable computer to vulnerable computer without user interaction.
In the interest of maintaining the greatest level of network security, we will be performing an expedited emergency installation of this security patch to all Windows servers and workstations. This update will require a reboot which is set to occur on 8/16/2019 between 1am and 4am, local to the timezone of each device. A notification and countdown of the scheduled reboot should be presented on any logged-in device.
